Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority said it will look into easing the investment rules that govern how the country’s insurance and pension funds invest in bonds, AsiaFirst reported. The proposed new rules will soon allow these funds to invest in bonds with lower ratings instead of just limiting their investments to bonds with certain ratings. The regulator’s capital market supervisor, Nurhaida, said easing the investment rules for pension and insurance funds will surely boost the local bond market. She stressed that there are bonds in Indonesia that have lower ratings but are actually quite safe for investment, prompting the regulators to try to ease the investment rules.
