Construction work has begun to build a 7-star hotel on the southern Kish Island.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week on Wednesday in the presence of parliamentarian Mohammad Reza Aref, CEO of Kish Free Zone Gholamhossein Mozaffari and the project investor, Hossein Robati.
“This 10-story hotel will be built on over 16,000 square meters of land using the latest architectural advancements and will have 1,000 rooms. It is estimated that around 4 trillion rials ($40 million) will be invested into the project,” Robati was quoted as saying by ILNA.
The hotel, he added, will use solar power for its energy demand and enjoy modern facilities. It is scheduled to come on stream in the fiscal 2022-23 and will be the first 7-star hotel on Kish Island.
Kish is a 91-square-kilometer resort island in the Persian Gulf off the southern coast of Iran. It is part of the Bandar Lengeh County in Hormozgan Province.
Owing to its free trade zone status, the island is touted as a consumer's paradise, with numerous malls, shopping centers, tourist attractions and resort hotels.
Kish Island is the third most-visited vacation destination in Southwest Asia, after Dubai and Sharm el-Sheikh. Tourists from many—but not all—foreign countries wishing to enter Kish Free Zone from legal ports are not required to obtain any visa prior to travel.
