An international agreement was signed between representatives from the International Association of Silk Road and officials at Hamedan Province's Chamber of Commerce in a meeting earlier this week in an effort to develop the tourism industry in the area.

The agreement covered the establishment of a secretariat for Hamedan's upcoming international events, development a tourism network between all Silk Road cities, enhancement of travel infrastructure and facilitation of low-cost trips, and more.
Hamedan has been selected as the capital of Asian Cooperation Dialogue countries.
The event was organized in line with efforts to prepare for the International Conference of Hamedan as the "ACD Tourism Capital, 2018" to be held from August 27-29 in the city.
The historical city is also hosting the UNWTO's 40th Plenary Session of the Affiliate Members planned for November 12 to 14.
The Plenary Session will reportedly bring together over 500 travel-associated companies, educational and research institutions and NGOs from around the world.
The event presents an opportunity for collaboration between private and public entities involved in the travel industry throughout 2018 and beyond, pushing the city a step forward in tourism development.
Its principal mission is to foster relationships among affiliate members and member states and promote the mission of UN World Tourism Organization and exchange of knowledge among experts.
Through panel debates and lively discussions, the Plenary Session will therefore set the scene for the exchange of expertise and good practices to explore alternative ways to successfully engage all affiliate members in the development of sustainable tourism, inter-alia the United Nations efforts.
