The inscription of the texture and landscape of ten villages in the Hawraman region of Kurdestan Province in the national list of Cultural Heritage Sites was officially communicated to provincial officials by the head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization. Ali Asghar Mounesan announced the registration in a letter to Governor General of Kurdestan Province Bahman Moradnia on Thursday, ISNA reported. Under the directive, any attempt to alter the protected textures of the ten villages, namely Vasi-ye Sofla, Vasi-ye Olya, Shian, Zhan, Takhteh, Halvan, Galin, Dulab, Boz Laneh and Tekeyeh-ye Hashmiz, would result in prosecution and any renovation work is subject to the CHHTO's approval. The ten villages had gained the national status in March after which the number of enlisted villages in the province reached 13. Hawraman Takht, Palangan and Zhivar villages were already on the list. The formal recognition of the western villages as among national heritage sites could clear the way for their inscription on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
