The number of tourists from the Republic of Azerbaijan to Iran saw an 11.6% increase over the first four months of 2018 as compared to the same period last year. The Azeris' general outbound travel grew by 1.1% in the period in comparison with the corresponding time in 2017 and reached 1.2 million, IRNA reported citing Trend News Agency. Out of the number, 27.7% chose Iran as their destination while 31.3% traveled to Georgia, 21.9% to Russia, 12.2% to Turkey, 1.7% to Ukraine and 1.4% to the UAE. Turkey, Georgia and Russia experienced a decline in their arrivals from Azerbaijan by 16.1%, 3.6% and 1.1% respectively. Azerbaijan's inbound travel saw a boost in the four-month period with around 850,000 tourists from 182 countries traveling to the country. The main source markets included Russia, Georgia, Turkey and Iran. However, the number of arrivals from Iran was 5.4% lower than the first four months of 2017.
