Efforts to Protect Classic Cars

A preliminary meeting on restoration and protection of vintage cars kept at Niavaran Complex in northern Tehran was held late last week. During the session, which was attended by authorities at Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism and headquarters of the complex, ways of protecting the valuable collection was discussed as one of the major concerns, CHTN reported. A report of the measures taken so far to preserve the collection was presented as a background to the scientific and professional studies planned to be conducted in the near future. The car museum at Niavaran Complex opened in 2012 to both make a public show of the old vehicles and provide protection for the items kept at the complex's storehouse. The collection includes classic cars, motorcycles and vehicle models mostly dating back to the Pahlavi dynasty (1925–1979). The museum is open to the public daily at the venue 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
