Iran's flag carrier IranAir transferred over 400,000 passengers during the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2017), which shows a 7% growth compared to the previous year, an official at the airline said.
Speaking at the anniversary of the airline, held at Mehrabad International Airport on Friday, Mohammad Reza Ranjbar, director of an IranAir regional office, said 40% of the passengers were carried by the new aircrafts purchased following the lifting of nuclear-related sanctions. "New jets will guarantee the safety of passengers while also enabling the airline to compete with its rivals in the world," he said, IRNA reported.
Since its establishment in 1944, IranAir has managed to operate scheduled services to some 70 destinations in Asia and Europe.
Adding new aircraft to the fleet, fundamental restorations, expanding IranAir regional flights as well as establishing training centers and setting up flight simulators have been among the achievements of the airline over the past few years.
