Tabriz to Offer Belated Travel Discounts

Tourism services will be offered with discounts of between 30% and 40% in Tabriz, the capital of East Azarbaijan Province, as the city has been selected as the Islamic tourism capital for 2018.

According to Morteza Abdar, the head of the provincial office of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, the belated scheme will become operational by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20) following agreements with hotels, travel agencies and airlines.

"Negotiations with the Industries Ministry are also underway to pave the way for specialized industrial and carpet tours," he also told IRNA.

In December 2016, Tabriz was selected as the capital of Islamic tourism in 2018 at the Ninth Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers in Niamey, Niger.

Ironically, officials plan to officially inaugurate the event that started Jan. 1, 2018, on April 25 in a ceremony attended by President Hassan Rouhani and high-ranking officials of foreign countries in Tabriz.
