Plans for Specialized Provincial Travel Activity

New schemes devised by Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization call for provinces to specialize in specific fields of tourism and promote their signature brands.  Speaking at the second meeting to arrange the 11th tourism exhibition on Monday, Mohammad Moheb-Khodaei, tourism deputy at ICHHTO, said based on strategic tourism plans, provinces are required to choose up to three specialized fields and target their efforts toward developing those sectors, CHTN reported.  "The standards for each category of the industry have been defined and provinces can use the principles to determine their brands," he said.  He called for provinces to promote their specialized tourism products in the upcoming international exhibition scheduled for Jan. 23-26 in Tehran.  This year's expo will be centered on 11 themes, namely Iran touring, hotel management, ecotourism, electronic tourism, handicrafts, tourism for children, health, food, sports, arts and flowers.  The national document on tourism development is also set to be unveiled during the event.
