A government directive that sets tasks involving cultural and social activities in metropolises for executive organizations, including Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, was communicated by First Vice President Es'haq Jahangiri on Monday.
Based on the directive, ICHHTO has two months to prepare and present guidelines for identifying, introducing and promoting notable items in terms of spiritual heritage in collaboration with city councils and municipalities, Mehr News Agency reported.
The organization is also responsible for assigning specific duties to relevant institutions, including Islamic Development Organization, culture and interior ministries, Foundation for Preservation of the Heritage and Distribution of Sacred Defense as well as NGOs.
Furthermore, the decree tasks ICHHTO to work out instructions for organizing and promoting urban tourism in various fields (religious, medical, cultural, among others).
Collaboration with municipalities in establishing international public spaces with excellent artistic and architectural values, enhancing roads and transportation systems in metropolises, establishing economical lodging places, developing hotels and promoting public services.
A secondary group of institutions have also been envisaged for further collaboration if need arises, whose duties should be outlined by ICHHTO in at most three months.
