A freezing fog to sweep the UK has caused cancellations at Heathrow Airport and Manchester Airport just days after struggling with snowy conditions. The freezing fog is sweeping across the UK, with many airports being forced to cancel or heavily delay flights. Manchester Airport suspended flights on Dec. 18 for maintenance on Runway 1, BBC reported. Flights to Amsterdam, Belfast and Aberdeen were cancelled with a flight to Dublin delayed by over five hours. The airport tweeted: “Runway one has now reopened following essential maintenance work and operations have resumed." British Airways has also cancelled some of its short-haul flight, as it copes with the extreme weather conditions. Freezing fog occurs after cold water droplets remain in a liquid form, despite the temperature being below freezing.
