Directory of Recreational, Historical Places in District 7 Complete

The Neighborhood Profile Plan, a project designed to identify, record and update information on cultural, recreational and historical places in Tehran’s District 7, has been completed, announced the district mayor.

"Collecting and updating data on urban infrastructure are essential for developmental planning and policymaking, and the scheme is part of the municipality's efforts to provide a comprehensive reference," Somayeh Hajavi added. The directory includes the location of public places such as commercial and recreational centers, sports complexes, cultural venues and historical landmarks, along with specifications such as land area and visitor statistics, ISNA reported.

Hajavi said the database is an effective step for promoting urban cultural planning that calls for the participation of local community activists. The project’s researchers conducted a field study using a survey system based on observation and interviews to collect data.  They hope that the information obtained through these techniques will provide urban managers with a deep insight about the city's facilities and help them take decisions with greater awareness.  The local mayor praised the latest version of the directory, saying that it is an improvement from the last edition, as it is more comprehensive and covers more information than the previous edition.  "The geographical position and more detailed descriptive data on the venues are among the distinctive features of this edition," she said.
