Iran is to attend the 38th edition of the International Tourism Trade Fair, aka Fitur, slated for 17-21 January 2018 in Madrid, Spain. Displaying tourism-related products and services, Fitur is a global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for inbound and outbound Ibero-American markets, Mehr News Agency reported. According to Ebadreza Eslami, the head of the Touring and Automobile Club of Iran, Iran will be represented in the event by 22 tourism companies and travel service providers in an exclusive pavilion. Last year, only 18 agencies attended the event.

“This year’s fair has been welcomed by Iranian travel companies more warmly compared to the previous year,” he said adding that 26 companies had filed requests to take part but only 22 could be granted spaces in the expo.

Besides, the location of Iran’s pavilion is much better this year thanks to the cooperation of the organizers.

“We have had talks with Iran’s Broadcasting Corporation to cover the event on Jam-e Jam global television channels, ” Eslami said.

Organizers plan to showcase Iranian customs and rituals in an event titled “Iranian Night”. They will exhibit Iran’s tourism attractions and offer package tours at the event. Eslami invited officials of the UN World Tourism Organization, foreign investors and tour operators to visit Iran’s pavilion and take part in its peripheral events. In 2017, Fitur beat the participation record by hosting 9,893 companies from 165 countries/regions, 135,858 trade participants and 107,213 visitors, the event’s website Ifema.es reported.

The presence of 7,452 journalists also shows the importance of Fitur on the international tourism calendar.
