The launch of a commission for cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism in the parliament is highly likely, given the general positive attitude of lawmakers toward the plan. "The plan has been recently proposed to highlight Iran's historical value and popularity at the international level," Parvaneh Salahshour, Tehran's representative, was quoted as saying by IRNA. "About 100 lawmakers have so far given their consent by signing the document." Salahshour expressed hope that the bill will be approved in a Majlis open session.  "Thanks to the positive views and support of some 100 members of parliament, the odds are high for the plan's approval," she said. Iran's ultimate goal is to draw 20 million foreign tourists annually by 2025. Officials believe such efforts could help achieve the goal, although with only eight years to go, it appears to be very ambitious.
