To extend their outreach to the European travel market, Kerman's tourism officials have organized a familiarization tour of the province for 15 Spanish tour operators on Sunday.
The tour was organized by the provincial office of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization in cooperation with Marcopolo Tourism Holding Company and Turkish Airlines.
According to Mohammad Jahanshahi, the tourism deputy at the provincial ICHHTO, the project is aimed at increasing tours from southern Europe, IRNA reported.
Jahanshahi said the Spanish show great interest in Iranian attractions.
The plan is also part of efforts for attracting tours to the province during the low season.
"Kerman gets its most number of tourists during April and May in the spring and October and November in the autumn, but such plans can help maintain the boom in other months as well," he said.
With five world heritage and 700 nationally inscribed sites as well as around 7,000 historical spots, Kerman Province is one of the travel destinations in Iran with high potentials. It also boasts unique natural attractions such as deserts and oases.
Over the first six months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), some 20,000 foreign tourists visited Kerman's attractions.
