The construction of a tourist and recreational complex and beach park in Bandar Torkaman, Golestan Province, has been approved, the head of the provincial office of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization has announced. Ebrahim Karimi added that the beach park with a total area of 150,000 square meters will be built on the shore of the city, Mana reported. The investment for the project is estimated at 230 billion rials ($70 million) mostly coming from the private sector and bank facilities. According to the official, the project will create 250 jobs and promote marine and coastal tourism. Karimi hoped that the beach park will be launched this year, although the problem of “land allocation” still remains on the table. “For that, we have held meetings with the provincial office of the Roads and Urban Development Ministry and hope to get the land soon,” The project design calls for a five-star hotel, villas, international shopping centers, an exclusive airport, aquatic sports facilities and cottages built on water.
