The 2017 meeting of International Council of Museum- Asia-Pacific Alliance concluded in Iran's Chabahar, Sistan-Baluchestan Province, on Thursday.  The meeting, which opened on Oct. 31, was attended by nine countries, namely South Korea, Cambodia, Pakistan, Republic of Palau, Japan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal and China, IRNA reported.

The event pursued two major goals: linking museums with education and drawing attention to global crises, especially issues such as water shortage and drought that faces many countries today. The meeting featured speech by officials, presentation of articles, specialized panel discussions and workshops on how to prevent the impacts of natural disasters and terrorism on historical sites and museums.

Articles presented by Iranian participants revolved around the issue of water. Topics included Iranian water structures and Achaemenid water canals and the role of water museums in preventing environmental crises. A special meeting was also organized by Iran's national committee of ICOM on the theme of Asia-Pacific museums, natural disasters and water crisis. The meeting concluded with a half-day sightseeing tour of Chabahar hosted by Chabahar Free Zone Organization and a traditional dinner.
