Plans to Celebrate Yazd Global Inscription

Yazd World Heritage Base is planning to hold a festival in March 2018 to celebrate the city's global inscription.  The event is scheduled for March 8 and 9 and will be attended by UNESCO's representatives and ambassadors of member states of the World Heritage Committee.  According to Mojtaba Farahmand, director of Yazd World Heritage Base, three committees for content creation and planning, executive affairs and invitation are in charge of organizing the festival, Khabar Online reported.  "The purpose of the festival is to introduce the art and culture of Yazd to the world," he said.  The main ceremony in which the World Heritage Tablet is to be unveiled will most likely be attended by President Hassan Rouhani or by a vice president.  Street processions and exhibitions presenting traditional food, handicrafts and local costumes are among other events included in the festival.
