Yazd’s office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization has issued a permanent permit for operating the Shahr-e-Aftab (literally meaning city of sunlight) Nature Park.

With a buildup area of 1,000 square meters, the tourist complex hosts a restaurant, coffee shop, a traditional bakery, a convenience store, a prayer room and temporary lodging units.

Fatemeh Danesh-Yazdi, the head of the provincial ICHHTO, was quoted as saying by YJC that the complex also offers recreational services in its vicinity, such as night sky watching as well as camel and horseback riding.

She added that transportation is also readily available for visitors to the park from anywhere in the city of Yazd.

Shahr-e-Aftab Nature Park is situated on Tehran-Yazd Highway.

The historical city of Yazd in central Iran became the country’s 22nd world heritage site in July after the World Heritage Committee voted in favor of its inscription during the committee’s 41st session in Krakow, Poland.

The city is also home to UNESCO-listed ancient Persian qanats as well as Dolatabad Garden, which is one of nine Iranian gardens inscribed collectively on the World Heritage List as “the Persian Gardens”.

Together with Isfahan and Shiraz, Yazd is among the top destinations for foreign tourists. Apart from its historical attractions, it has untapped ecotourism potentials in its desert. The launch of such parks will help attract more tourists to the province and lengthen their period of stay.
