Rock paintings of Humian, north of Kuhdasht, Lorestan Province, have been dated, ISNA quoted an archaeologist of Lorestan Cultural Heritage Organization, Ata Hassanpur.
By examination of a bone fragment, Prof. Charles McBurney at the Division of Archaeology, Cambridge University, estimated the Humian site to go as far back as 149,000 years ago.
However, the paintings, including an anchor shape and hunting scenes, date back to 2,000 to 9,000 years ago, Hassanpur added.
