Aseman Airlines started its Kuwait- Abadan-Mashhad flights routes on October 1. The flights will run Thursdays and Fridays, the Abadan International Airport chief, Mohamadreza Rezai has stated.
The airline already operates weekly flights from the same airport: 6 to Tehran, 2 to Shiraz, and 1 to Mashhad.
Abadan Airport hosts over a hundred flights by different local operators such as Aseman, Taban Air, Qeshm Air, Iran AirTour, Iran Air, Kish Air, Zagros Air, Atrak Air, and Naft Air.
The airport is now set to receive foreign airlines as well, the first of which is Air Arabia, which will to resume its Abadan-Sharjah flights after a 36-year lapse, on October 15.
Mashhad, with its close proximity and its popularity as a pilgrimage destination for Shia Muslims receives 28 weekly flights from neighboring Iraq.
