Construction work on Arak’s large museum is progressing well, according to the head of the office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) office in Markazi Province Seyed Mohammad Hosseini. The 4-storey museum, to be built on a 2,000-square-meter plot, will include wings dedicated to historical artifacts, anthropology, manuscripts, and carpets, Hosseini said, adding: “If the budget is made available on time, construction should be completed by 2017.” A large portion of the budget is supplied from the National Development Fund, said the official, adding that 25 billion rials ($753,000) have already been spent on constructing two floors of the museum, with another 50 billion rials ($1.5 million) needed to complete the project. The museum is built to international standards, and will be equipped with systems to adjust temperature and moisture.
