The ‘1001 Nights’ European luxury train is scheduled to make its second trip to Iran on May 19.

The luxury train, operated by Lernidee Trains and Cruises, made its first journey in September 2014, making it the first European train to enter Iran, ISNA news agency reported.

The train will begin its journey in Istanbul, and enter Iran within a week.

There are scheduled stops in Zanjan, Yazd, Shiraz, Isfahan, and Tehran.

So far 80 passengers, from as Germany, the Netherlands, the US, and Austria, are set to make the trip and the number is expected to rise, according to the news agency.

Travelers alternate between staying overnight in a 4-star hotel and in the well-equipped train cars.

After spending a week in Iran and visiting sites including Persepolis, Pasargadae, Towers of Silence and the Jameh Mosque of Isfahan, the tourists will fly back to Turkey from Tehran.

The 2-week journey provides a unique opportunity to visit 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and also presents a chance to western tourists to become familiar with Iranian and Turkish cultures.
