Iran has decided on the saffron flower as its tourism logo. Saffron is among the world’s most costly spices and mainly produced by Iran (approximately 90%). The flower is chosen to symbolize growth, development and happiness.

Meanwhile, the World Tourism Day conference was held in Tehran on Saturday.

Restructuring the tourism department, exploring new tourist destinations, launching the Khane Mosafer (traveler’s lodge) initiative, developing pilgrimage tourism, launching the Strategic Council on Health Tourism, establishing a travel and tourism radio station, and setting up information offices overseas, were among the achievements of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (CHHTO) over the past year, said the organization’s deputy chief in his speech to mark the event, CHN reported.

He outlined three government priorities for the coming year: attracting foreign tourists, fostering domestic tourism, and promoting information and communication technology (ICT) in the tourism industry.

Masoud Soltanifar, vice president and CHHTO head, Ali Larijani, Majlis Speaker, and Tehran-based foreign envoys were among those who attended the ceremony at the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Summit Hall.
