A cultural agreement was signed in Rome between Iran and Italy to expand collaboration in various areas including higher education, research, culture and art, media, sport, and tourism. Iranian Minister of Culture, Ali Jannati, and Italy’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dario Franceschini were present at the ceremony in which the MoU was signed by Iran’s ambassador to Rome, Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari, and the director general for the promotion of economy, culture, and science at the foreign ministry, Andrea Meloni, ISNA reported. Franceschini stressed that the MoU will help boost ties between the two countries with thousands of years of history, culture, and civilization, emphasizing the preservation of cultural heritage as they do not belong to one country and should be treasured as human heritage. Jannati said despite past political tensions between Italy and Iran, relations between the two countries have remained strong. He argued that the two influential civilizations of Italy and Iran must do all they can to strengthen cultural ties.
