The construction of Lamerd International Airport’s new passenger terminal is complete and it is expected to be inaugurated on April 23 by President Hassan Rouhani via videoconference.
According to Mostafa Safaei, the deputy head of Iran Airports Company, the project to develop the terminal, located in Lamerd, capital of Lamerd County in Fars Province, started in the fiscal 2014-15. The terminal is spread over an area of 5,500 square meters.
Once operational, the airport’s passenger capacity would increase from the current 150,000 to 900,000 passengers per year, Mehr News Agency reported.
More than 400 billion rials ($2.58 million) have been invested in the project.
