The transfer window may have closed, but Nottingham Forest could still have two new faces in its squad imminently.

The English club was busy over the summer buying several players and is still after Olympiacos Iranian striker Karim Ansarifard alongside Greek midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis.

According to the Nottingham Post, the Greek giant Olympiacos could give Ansarifard to move to Forest in the championship, second division of English football league, on loan.

It is unclear just how Forest would tie up a deal given that the transfer window has closed; the English side may have paperwork to show a pre-agreed deal that was subject to a work permit.

The 28-year-old Iranian hit 18 goals in 27 games for Olympiakos last season. He formerly played for another Greek club Panionios and Osasuna in Spain as well as Iranian teams Tractor Sazi, Persepolis and Saipa.

Playing for the Iran national team, Ansarifard scored 17 goals in 64 matches.

He featured in this year’s World Cup in Russia, where he scored a penalty against Portugal in a 1-1 draw - the team’s final match as Iran failed to get beyond the group stage. It was his second experience of a World Cup, having also been part of the 2014 squad which headed to Brazil.
