The Asian Men’s Volleyball Cup, so-called the AVC Cup for Men, is an international volleyball competition in Asia and Oceania contested by the top ten senior men’s national teams from among members of the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

Tenth team in the games was China, the winner of the 2012 cup in Vietnam. It boycotted the games following political issues with the host nation Taiwan.

Organized by the AVC and the Chinese Taipei Volleyball Association (CTVA), the tournament will be held in Taipei, Taiwan (referred to as Chinese Taipei by the AVC), from August 8-15.

As mentioned before, Iran won the U20 Asian title less than a month ago and also the Khatam Ardakan team from Iran bagged gold in the Asian Men’s Club Championship on Monday after beating Kazakhstan representative Atyrau in a cstraight set victory in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

Now Ataei’s team has to test its mettle to bring home the third continental title for Iran as well as the second for Ataei himself.
