Junior athletes have won four world titles in different sporting tournaments so far this month showing their ability on the international stage.

According to multiple sources, in the span of two weeks, junior athletes won four titles in weightlifting, wushu, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling with wushu as the latest field in which Iran emerged on the top on Monday.

With a bag full of medals (11 gold, eight silver and seven bronze), the Iranians won the World Junior Wushu Championships title in Brasilia via the almost impossible task of uncrowning China for the first time in history and jotting down their names in sports history.

All nine finalists from Iran in sanda category won gold; other champions won their first places in the taolu category.

It was for the first time that a team other than China won the title for both taolu and sanda divisions in wushu.

Earlier this week, junior weightlifters shined in the IWF Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, as they grabbed their third consecutive title for team performance after the 2016 Georgia and 2017 Tokyo Championships.

The national team scored 512 points as the table-topper followed by host nation with 436 points and Turkey 411 points respectively.

On July 10, junior Greco-Roman wrestlers won the Cadet World Championships title in Zagreb after 22 years with two gold, two silver and two bronze medals as they beat powerhouses Russia and Turkey.

Iran’s freestyle team won the title at the same event on July 8. With a total of three gold, one silver and three bronze medals, Iranian freestylers left Croatia with the team title and 152 points followed by the US with 132 points.

Iran Wrestling Federation director Rasoul Khadem billed the young wrestlers as future champions in senior categories as they grow up and learn more skills and find their proper place in national teams. The junior athletes were praised by President Hassan Rouhani and speaker of the Parliament Ali Larijani who congratulated the teams in individual messages and hoped the young athletes further success.
