Once again Japanese people exhibited their bind to discipline, this time at a stadium where their national football team played against Colombia in the series of FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.
Even after Japan came out of the game as the winner with a stunning 2-1 victory, Japanese fans stayed behind to pick up litter left behind at the at Mordovia Arena in Saransk, Russia.
Videos on social media show fans equipped with trash bags sweeping through the rows collecting plastic waste left on the stadium grounds.
Internet users praised the Japanese fans for bringing their manners to the pitch, Time wrote.
Japanese audience members earned similar accolades back in 2014 at the World Cup in Brazil, where some were spotted picking up their own trash after the Japanese team lost to the Ivory Coast 2-1.
In Japan it is considered appropriate to clean up after yourself at public events such as concerts, sporting events and festivals. Moreover, it is common after eating in a restaurant, to clean your table, leaving it the way you found it.
