Iranian athletes bagged one gold and one bronze medal at the International Athletics Association Federation Diamond League in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sunday.

Sprinter Hassan Taftian, competing in the 100m games, was crowned after running the length for 10.07 seconds as his best performance of the season so far, based on the results released by the official website of the games.

Japanese athlete Yoshihide Kiryu won silver with the 10.15 seconds record. Canadian Gavin Smellie finished third with 10.17 seconds.

Taftian will add his gold medal to his trophies from the Asian Games and the Asian Indoor Championships.

 One More Honor

Discus thrower Ehsan Haddadi registered a 67.68 meter throw as his best to win bronze. Improving his personal best to 69.67m, Jamaican Fedrick Dares hacked his name on the first place of the games as Lithuanian Andrius Gudzius followed him in second place with a 69.59m shot.

Haddadi won silver at the Oslo Diamond League last week for his 67.55m throw where Gudzius won gold for a 69.04m shot.

It was Ehsan’s third appearance in the Diamond Leagues in the current season after Rome Diamond league where he won bronze and the Oslo Diamond League.

While the Golden League was created to increase the profile of the leading European athletics competitions, the Diamond League’s aim is to enhance the worldwide appeal of athletics by moving outside Europe for the first time.
