Bronze Medal for Haddadi in Rome Diamond League

Discus thrower Ehsan Haddadi won bronze at the Rome Diamond League games in Rome on Thursday.

Haddadi’s longest throw was set in his second attempt where he made a record of 65.93 meters. His best among six attempts brought him a bronze medal, IRNA reported. 

The gold medal went to Jamaican thrower Fedrick Dacres for a 68.51m throw. Lithuanian World Champion Andrius Guzius set a 68.18m record to win silver. Swedish giant Daniel Stahl finished fourth after Haddadi with 64.84 meters.

German phenomena Robert Harting, the gold medal winner of 2012 London Olympic Games finished fifth.

Haddadi bagged bronze in Track & Field Championships in Halle, Germany last week. Throwing as long as 66.13m, he came third and stood above Rio Olympic silver medalist Piotr Malachowski and 2016 Rio Olympics gold winner Christoph Harting.

The Iranian thrower has collected one gold and two bronze medals in the current season of discus throwing tournaments and hopes to win one more medal in the next round of Diamond League Games in Oslo on June 7.
