Haddadi Against Giants in Rome Diamond League

Discus thrower Ehsan Haddadi will step into the pitch against world top rankers of the sports in the Rome Diamond League Competitions on Thursday.

According to the entries list released by the official website of the event, German 2016 Rio Olympic gold winner Christoph Harting is among the contenders. Also 2012 London gold winner Robert Harting will partake.

Other renowned figures such as Polish Rio Olympics silver winner Piotr Malachowski, Jamaican World Junior Champion Fedrick Dacres, World Champion Andrius Guzius from Lithuania, and European Junior Champion Lukas Weisshaidinger from Austria will throw discus at the games.

Haddadi has set a record of 69.32m as his personal best and 68.85m for the current 2017-18 season. Among the partaking athletes Robert Harting has set a record of 70.66m as his personal best atop others but his performance has distanced from the ground-breaking record to 63.67m in the current season.

Lukas with 68.98m, Dacres with 69.83 and Guzius with 69.13 meter records in the season are ahead of Haddadi for the season records.

Earlier this week, the Iranian thrower won bronze medal in Track and Field Championships in Halle, Germany for throwing the discus as far as 66.13m. Malachowski and Christoph Harting participated in the German event but failed to win medals.
