U17 Women Team Out of Asian Championship

Iran failed to enter the semis of the 2018 Asian Women’s U17 Volleyball Championship, Nakhon Patom, Thailand.

The team faced superpower Japan in the march on Thursday and failed to pass the barrier by losing 3-0, ISNA reported. 

Japan had a whale of a game with total dominance over Iran. In the first set Iranians could not do well and lost it 25-12. They improved in the second set but again accepted defeat 25-17. In the last set also it was the Japanese who proved superior to win 25-16 and show Iran the exits.

On the way to the quarterfinal, Iran first hammered New Zealand 3-0 and then lost to Australia 3-2 but qualified from its group to the next stage.

In their third match, Iranians faced Malaysia and beat it 3-1. The first set went to Malaysia 27-25 but it was Iran making the comeback by winning the next three sets.

The second set ended 25-20 in Iran’s favor. And in the third and fourth sets Iran defeated the Malaysians 25-22 and 25-21. 

Juniors will hold two matches with Taiwan and Kazakhstan on Saturday to battle for fifth place.

One team from each Japan-Thailand and China-South Korea pair will go to the finals. 

The continental games are a biennial international volleyball tournament organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation.
