The para taekwondo team claimed the fourth title at the 4th Asian Para Taekwondo Open Championships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on May 24.
With six gold, one silver and two bronze medals, Iran secured the continental title, ISNA reported.
Mehdi Pour-Rahnama in -75kg and Saeed Sadeqianpour in -61kg as well as Hamed Haqshenas, Ahmad Narimani and Mehdi Bahrami all in +75kg took gold.
Taekwondokas from a same weight class won medals in different categories due to their type of disability.
The female team from Iran also won one gold and one bronze by Mahtab Nabavi in -49kg. Nabavi was able to participate in two classes.
Asghar Azizi in +75kg was the only silver man among the team. Also Mohammad-Reza Shabani won the only bronze medal in the men’s squad in the -75kg division.
The Iranians were led by Payam Khanlarkhani, Mehdi Ahmadi and Massoud Lashkari. A total of 120 para taekwondokas from 28 countries participated in the event. Iran is attending with 10 taekwondokas. The continental event will run through May 28.
