National men and women karate teams will attend Karate 1 Premier League games in Istanbul, Turkey, June 8-10.
The event will also serve as a Youth Olympic Qualifier so the karatekas will fight for quotas for the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina, commonly known as 2018 Buenos Aires Olympic Games slated for October 6-18, IRNA reported.
Eighteen karatekas from Iran in the male and female divisions are to participate in the league.
Negin Baqeri and Abolfazl Shahrjerdi will represent the nation in individual female and male kata categories.
In the male kumite division, Salah Abaazari, Saeed Ahmadi, Bahman Asgari, Ali Asghar Asiabari, Hamoon Derafshi, Sajjad Ganjzadeh, Mehdi Khodabakhshi, Amir Mehdizadeh and Zabihollah Poursheib form the Iran men’s team.
The women’s kumite team includes Hamideh Abbasali, Mohadeseh Aghaei, Sara Bahman-Yar, Fatemeh Chalaki, Nasrin Dousti, Mobina Kaviani and Taravat Khaksar.
Karate1 Premier League is the most important league event in the world of karate.
It comprises some of the most prominent karate competitions and endeavors to bring together the best athletes in an open championship of unprecedented scale and scope.
The 2018 edition includes seven events to be held in Paris, Dubai, Rotterdam, Rabat, Istanbul, Berlin and Tokyo that will bring together 572 competitors from 62 countries.
