Lokomotiv Finishes First, Moqavemat Golsapoosh 2nd

Moqavemat Golsapoosh team lost the final clash to the Lokomotiv of Moscow to take second place in the Eurasia Beach Soccer Cup in Yazd, Iran.

The Russian side edged host Moqavemat Golsapoosh, the champion of the previous edition, to claim the title, according to Beachsoccer.com

Lokomotiv Moscow gave this 2018 Eurasia Beach Soccer Cup a different closing than the one it had last year. The finalists were the same, but this time, the Russians were the ones smiling in the end.

A tight 2-1 win had Loko prevailing over the hosts. After a goalless first leg, the tournament’s most valuable player and top scorer Lucão swept the Russian side ahead, but Hamidreza Dehqani hit back for Iran to equalize five minutes later.

Before the second period was over, Lokomotiv was ahead again, and, this time, for good. The Iranian side was unable to equalize again.

After clinching the Mundialito de Clubes (international club beach soccer competition) last December, Loko now has claimed another international honor and gets ready to get to the Euro Winners Cup as one of the toughest sides in the world.

Levante upset Catania to snatch third place in the competition. A stunning performance by Farid Boulokbashi had the Spaniards storming past the Catanesi, which could only equalize Levante’s first advantage in the first minutes.
