Iranian junior taekwondokas clinched four more medals including three gold and one silver at the 2018 World Taekwondo Junior Championships in Hammamet, Tunisia, April 6-13.
Amirsina Bakhtiyari won gold in the junior men’s -55kg after he managed to defeat his Argentine opponent Jose Luis Acuna in the final clash, according to Worldtaekwondo.org.
Amir Valipour also dominated the match against the Azeri Khanoghlan Karimov in the final contest of the men’s -51kg class to clinch another gold for Iran.
Earlier in the tournament, Iranian taekwondo fighter Hossein Lotfi received the gold medal in -45kg class.
In the junior women category Mobina Kalivand ended up with bronze in -42kg weight section.
Day One Medals
On match day first of the event, Ali Eshkevarian secured the second place of men juniors in -73kg category. He succeeded in entering the finals but lost the match to Egyptian rival Eyad Barakat and settled for silver.
In the men juniors’ +73kg class, Mohammad Khani received bronze. In -63kg, Yalda Valinejad won bronze in repecharge games of the junior women category.
The medals also count for the quota of the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games, commonly known as Buenos Aires 2018. It is a forthcoming international sports, cultural, and educational event that will be held in the Argentinean capital October 6-18.
It will be the first Summer Youth Olympic Games to be held in the Southern Hemisphere, the first outside Asia, and the first Youth Games for either summer or winter to be held outside Eurasia.
The 2018 World Taekwondo Junior Championships has brought together 950 male and female taekwondo practitioners from 118 countries, including Iran, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Canada, Taiwan, Croatia, Germany, India, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
