Iranian female shooter Najmeh Khedmati claimed the first medal for Iran’s delegation at the 2018 International University Sports Federation World University Shooting Sports Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 17.
Khedmati won the bronze medal of 50-meter air rifle after two shooters from Czech won the gold and silver medals, ISNA reported.
Other members of the female shooting delegation in 50-meter air rifle category, Fatemeh Karamzadeh and Maryam Shafiei did not make it to the finals of the individual section.
In the 50-m air rifle team division, Iran’s team of Najmeh Khedmati, Fatemeh Karamzadeh and Maryam Shafiei finished fifth in the world championships.
A total number of 176 shooters from 24 countries attended the seventh edition of the games on March 14-18.
The gold medal of 2014 Incheon Asian Games in individual category as well as the silver medal of team divisions are among Khedmati’s achievements. She has also decorated her trophy shelf with the gold medal of 2015 Gwangju Universiade games in 10-meter air rifle category.
