Young Basketball Team Humbles Iraq 109-50

Iran’s U18 basketball team humbled Iraq 109-50 on February 12 in Amman, Jordan, in the series of West Asia Basketball Association Qualifiers for The FIBA U18 Asian Championship 2018.
The team secured the win from the first quarter by earning 29 points against 10. In the second quarter Iran showed a week performance which did not fit is overall function and only earned 11 points giving  the Iraqis 17 points.
In the third quarter Iranian youngsters revived the spirit and hammered the rival 32-12. In the fourth and last quarter Iranians perfected their performance by adding 37 points and only giving 11 to the rival.
Behshad Arabzadeh was named the top performer of the match by scoring 24 points and rebounding 11 balls above the basket. He also assisted in gaining seven points.
The U18 basketball team was crowned at the previous championships hosted by Iran in 2016. It was the third title for Iran in the history of the games.
FIBA U18 Asian Championship 2018 will be held in Bangkok from August 5-11. The top four teams in the 16-team tournament will qualify for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019.
