FIFA President Gianni Infantino will visit Iran later this month to meet President Hassan Rouhani.
Infantino is going to travel to Tehran following a formal invitation from the Football Federation of Iran, Ifpnews reported.
It would be Infantino’s first trip to Iran as head of FIFA. The visit may take place on February 28 or March 1, the exact date is not yet set due to Infantino’s busy schedule.
The trip is expected to help in solving the international problems Iran’s football is facing, especially those regarding hosting Saudi Arabian clubs in the AFC Champions League during the past months.
According to a verdict by the AFC, Iranian clubs are not allowed to host Saudi teams at home in the games this year similar to the few previous editions.
Infantino visited Tehran last February as the UEFA chief. He held a meeting with the Iranian media and negotiated with officials on solutions to develop football in Iran.
