Aiming to improve the quality of judo, Iran Judo Federation has hired two Uzbek coaches to train the men and women teams.

For men’s team, Andrey Shturbabin will work as the trainer under the management of Mohammad Mansouri, Iran Judo Federation reported on its website.

Shturbabin was honored as the best men’s coach in 2011 at the International Judo Federation’s 60th anniversary gala.

Iranian judokas are preparing for the series of grand prix games; points of the game will be considered in the International Judo Federation ranking as well as Olympic quota.

At the last grand prix in Tunisia in January, Iranian men judokas won one silver medal which was far below than what had been expected. Neliya Kiamova has been chosen by the federation to manage the women’s team. The team has not had a stellar record in the past.
