Heavy Snow Says No to All Sporting Events

Due to the heavy snow, flights to and from Tehran and airports  in other snow-covered cities were canceled on Sunday.

A series of sporting events, including the national league games in different fields, which were scheduled for Tehran on Sunday, were cancelled due to the heavy snowfall in the city.

In the series of Azadegan League (League 1), the second highest division of professional football in the country), the match between Rah-Ahan Tehran and Oxin Alborz was postponed. The new date has not been   announced. The match was to be held at Rah-Ahan Stadium in Ekbatan District, west of Tehran, Varzesh3 reported.

Nassaji Mazandaran match with Khooneh-be-Khooneh Babol at Haft-e Tir Stadium in Babol city, in northern  Mazandaran Province, was canceled due to the heavy rain and postponed to Monday.

A match between Malavan with Saba-ye Qom at Takhti Stadium in the northern port city of Anzali in Gilan Province was also canceled and delayed.

National weightlifting league games were also put off due to the snow and disruptions in the transport system.

Roads were closed due to heavy snow and flights to and from Tehran and airports in other snow-covered cities were canceled on Sunday. Bad weather did not allow the lifters from other cities to attend the finals in Tehran.

Semifinals of the basketball cup were also rescheduled. Mahram basketball team of Tehran was to play against Petroshimi Bandar Imam in Mahshahr City, Khuzestan Province.

Mahram players and coaching team arrived at Mehrabad Airport but their flight to Mahshahr was canceled, as were all the other domestic flights.

Also, Naft-e Abadan was to play against Shahrdari Tabriz in Tabriz City, capital of East Azarbaijan Province. But the snow saw to it that that game was also canceled.
