Iran’s taekwondo team ended the World Taekwondo Grand Slam in China with one bronze for Sajjad Mardani in the +80kg weight division.
Mardani won the medal after beating athletes from South Korea (12-11), Azerbaijan (11-7) and Croatia (9-4).
The national team that had participated in the first series of the games with five athletes in the men’s section and two in women’s, left the competitions with only one bronze, Mehr News Agency reported.
In the competitions held on Saturday (last day of the tournament), Farzan Ashourzadeh (-58kg) lost to the Korean taekwondoka and Ebrahim Safari in the same weight division accepted defeat against his Chinese rival.
The first World Taekwondo Grand Slam was held in Wuxi, China, with athletes from around the world.
