The issue of hiring a new head coach for Tractor Sazi was finally resolved on Friday by hiring the Turk manager Ertuğrul Sağlam.

He was warmly welcomed by the fans upon his arrival at Tabriz International Airport on Friday midnight and said he admires Tractor Sazi fans, ISNA reported.

“It was an unforgettable night”, Sağlam wrote in a post on his Instagram feed. “I’m pleased to lead the team because it has great and numerous fans.”

Following poor results under the management of Yahya Gol-Mohammadi in the current season, the club decided to hire a new manager. Initially it was reported that the team was in talks with another Turkish manager, Mustafa Denizli. But the two sides were unable to come to terms.

Sağlam, 48, was recently voted one of the top 20 most promising coaches by the weekly British football magazine Match.

He has managed seven Turkish clubs since 2004 including Samsunspor and Beşiktaş for which he played as a striker in the past.

In 2006 he won the now defunct Intertoto Cup, with Kayserispor. In 2010, he won the Super Lig with Bursaspor.

Founded in 1970, Tractor Sazi Tabriz is a professional football club in the Persian Gulf Pro League. The club is based in Tabriz, capital of East Azarbaijan Province.

First place in the Hazfi Cup in the 2013-14 season and third in the Persian Gulf ranking in 2016-17 season are the highest honors of the club.

Currently, the team is in 11th place of the Oro League table with 21 points from 20 games.
