Greco-Roman Team Will Attend Championships in Russia

Iran’s three-man team will attend the International Russian Greco-Roman Grand Prix Ivan Poddubny.

The team includes Saman Abdevali in 63kg, Majid Khalili in 82kg and Hossein Nouri in 87kg category, varzesh3 reported.

Abdevali won silver in the 2016 Asian Wrestling Championships in Thailand as well as the World Military Championships in 2013.

Nouri has a gold medal from the 2017 Paris World Wrestling Championships plus a bronze from the 2017 Asian Wrestling Championships in New Delhi.

Khalili has a bronze medal from the 2017 World Military championships.

The team will be accompanied by Bahram Hosseinzadeh as coach and Ahad Pazaj is the technical manager.

Known as the biggest Greco-Roman tournament of Russia, the event is slated for January 18-21 in Krasnodar City.

The event is named after Ivan Maximovich Poddubny (1871-1949), a professional wrestler from the Russian Empire and later the Soviet Union. He began his sports career around 1900 that lasted for about 40 years and lost only twice.
