National Volleyball Coach to Speak in Tehran Training Seminar

Iran national volleyball team coach Igor Kolakovic will speak at a seminar on defensive strategies for men and women coaches.

The National Olympics and Paralympics Committees in Tehran are jointly organizing the event slated for January 22.

Teaching and Research Committee of the Volleyball Federation has planned the one-day meeting to help improve the ability and technical skills of volleyball coaches, Varzesh3 reported.

As of Sunday 70 coaches had enrolled for the seminar.

Kolakovic is a Montenegrin volleyball coach and retired player.

He coached Serbia’s national volleyball team from 2006 until 2014 and won the 2010 FIVB Volleyball World Championship bronze medal for Serbia.

He guided Serbia to a gold medal at the 2011 European Volleyball Championship and bronze in the 2013 edition of the games.

Two silver medals in the 2008 and 2009 FIVB World League games and a bronze in the 2010 edition are among his other honors.

Kalakovic resigned after eight years as coach in Serbia. In 2017 he was introduced as head coach of the Iran national volleyball team. He helped Iran win the bronze medal of FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup last year that was the first world medal in the history of the team.
