Mehdi Mahdavikia Invited to 2018 World Cup Draw

Former Iranian national football team player Mehdi Mahdavikia has received an invitation from FIFA to attend the 2018 World Cup draw ceremony, slated for December 1 at the Kremlin Palace Ballroom in Moscow.
The invitation came in recognition of the impressive role played by Mahdavikia during his career in football, Tasnim News Agency reported.
Mahdavikia played in four Asian Cups (1996, 2000, 2004, 2007) and two World Cups (1998, 2006). He appeared in 110 games for Team Melli and scored 13 goals.
He won the Asian Young Footballer of the Year award in 1997 and was selected the Asian Footballer of the Year in 2003.
After his performance in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, he was transferred from Persepolis to Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga, where he played for eight seasons. In 2012, he was selected as a member of the Hamburger Team of the Century.
