Real Madrid reported on Friday that Gareth Bale has been injured again, this time with a muscle injury to his left leg in a training session. The player did not join up with the Wales squad for a friendly against France and instead waited to play for his club against Atletico Madrid, but now he will be out for several weeks.

“Our player Gareth Bale, who felt some discomfort in his left leg at the end of last Thursday’s training, has been subjected to different tests by the medical services today [Friday],” a club statement read. Bale was injured against Borussia Dortmund on September 26 and since then, he has not played a minute, Marca reported.

Following the injury happened to him last year, Bale was forced to miss out on 40 of his side’s 60 matches. No matter what work he has done, the injuries have appeared again and again and since Bale’s ankle injury on November 22 last year, he has only been able to play 20 games in a Los Blancos shirt.

His damaged ankle has resulted in the footballer being sidelined for 17 consecutive games, and after he finally reappeared, he suffered another injury.

First, some discomfort in the operated joint left him two games out. And, in El Clasico, his problems returned again keeping him out for another eight matches.

This season started well for Bale, but after the match in Dortmund on September 26, he has not played since. It started as a cramp and then became a break in the soleus, which resulted in another nine games missed.

The Welshman will not be able to play for the rest of the year. His best-case scenario would be missing seven more fixtures but there is a possibility of missing a minimum of 10.

With the injury on Friday, Gareth Bale has now suffered 24 injuries since he signed for Real Madrid in June 2013.

It should be noted that most of the injuries have been muscular and caused without prior contact. However, the worst was undoubtedly the ankle injury that forced him into the operating room last season and ruined his entire championship.
