Iran National Cricket Team sponsored by Chabahar Free Zone (CFZ) will play in  the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Cup held in Malaysia November 9-20.

According to the CFZ website, the tournament is organized by the ACC for Under-19 teams from its member nations. It was first held in 2012 in Malaysia where the trophy was shared by India and Pakistan after the final was tied. ACC members are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal and Malaysia.

The cup was originally scheduled to be held in India but was moved after the Pakistan Cricket Board refused to travel to India.

Mehdi Abravesh, head of CFZ public relations and international affairs, said that three training sessions were held at Chabahar Cricket Stadium and 14 players were selected for the games.

Iran will play with Kuwait and Maldives in the games.

The CFZ is a free trade area established in 1992 along with the two other free trade zones in Qeshm and Kish islands off the Persian Gulf to use global expertise for economic development.
